Manage the content
of your web site
After you have completed the registration process, you
are ready to update the content (text and pictures) of
your new web site. First sign in to the ionWeb.com web
site to begin the process. Once you have signed in you
will be taken to your own administration page. From the
administration page you will be able to keep your registration
information current and edit your new web site.
All web sites on ionWeb.com are controlled by Content
Director. Content Director is proprietary software that
gives you the ability to update the content of your web
site through an Internet connection and browser. No additional
software is needed. Starting from the administration home
page, you can select 'Content List' button to manage your
web site.
Each ionWeb.com web site is composed of 4 modules:
-
Module A: Header or name of company
- Module B: Side bar of text and photos
- Module C: Company name, address and phone number
- Module D: Main body of text and photos
Each 'Module' has its own 'Edit Content' page. These management
pages are similar and designed to allow you to easily update
text and add photos. Once you have learned to update one
module, you will have the knowledge to work with all of
the modules. You will have up to 4Megs of space total on
the ionWeb.com server to work with.
To avoid repeating graphics for 'Module A' and 'Module
C' limit the length of text that you use. 'Module A' is
for the name of your company only and 'Module C' is for
the name, address and phone number of your company only.
Add text
Now
that you have a web site, it's time to input specific
information about your business. From the 'Content
List' window choose a module to work with and click

page of that module appears you will be able to add
text and photos. All updates can be made in the designated

Since your photos will appear on the Internet, they should
be smaller in terms of resolution. Photos should less than
100K in size and 72 dpi. Use photo editing software to
keep you resolution size small and your photos looking

If you don't have any photos, try downloading a few for
free from online stock photo companies. Read the terms
of agreement for each site about any restrictions. See
the 'Resources' section of
ionWeb.com for more information.
The photo file size should be under 100K and saved
in GIF or JPEG format. When naming photos do not use

Plan ahead
Your web site will look more professional if you plan the
content ahead of time. First, research how competitors
and similar businesses are marketing themselves online.
Next, take the time to write good text. It's always a
good idea to tell a story about your business and describe
why a prospect would want to buy your services or products.
Use testimonials from satisfied clients. Then plan what
photos work best with your text, edit and prepare the
photos for uploading as described in the 'Adding photos,
PDFs and video' paragraph above.
Have fun!
Even though this is a business web site try to engage your
audience. Try different photos, update your text information
frequently and most of all promote your web site in all
of your sales literature. |
